Narrative
Diazonium salts are useful for preparing dyes by coupling with nucleophilic reagents. Solutions of 4-nitroaniline and anthranilic acid in aqueous hydrochloric acid are treated with sodium nitrite solution to form the corresponding diazonium salts. These salts are treated with an aqueous solution of 2-naphthol. Red precipitates of diazo dyes form.
