A point source in a ripple tank generates circular waves. As the wave frequency is increased, the wavelength decreases. This effect can be most clearly seen by stopping the movie at several different frequencies.

This ripple-tank experiment illustrates qualitatively the fact that the frequency of a wave times the wavelength of the wave equals the speed at which the wave travels.
