Above the critical temperature the flux lines of a magnet may enter the material.Below the critical temperature the magnetic flux lines are expelled from the now superconducting material.This leads to the phenomenon of levitation, illustrated in the picture to the right, with a magnet levitated above a chilled superconducting pellet.
