Atoms can arrange themselves in several different ways when they pack into a plane. The figures show two different arrangements of atoms in a plane. Click on the array in which the atoms pack most efficiently; that is, the array in which the atoms are packed most closely together. |
You are correct! Spheres pack most efficiently in this arrangement which is called a closest packed layer. OK |
