Narrative

A magnetic stirrer is a convenient alternative to hand stirring. The Teflon-coated stirring magnet should be rinsed thoroughly before insertion in a titration flask. A magnetic stirrer allows for continuous, uniform stirring, and provides you with one free hand during a titration. Turn on the magnetic stirrer and adjust its rate for gentle stirring to keep the solution from splashing up on the sides of the flask. An extra stir bar is handy for removing your stir bar from a titration flask.
