The Number of Atoms in the Cell

An atom within a unit cell is not shared with any other cells. The point in the center of this cell is not shared with any other unit cells.

A point at one corner of a unit cell is shared among eight unit cells in the lattice. One eighth of a shared lattice point or a shared atom is located in each unit cell.
