The Space Lattice | |
|
A space lattice is simply a set of points each of which has identical surroundings. To build a space lattice in a tree farm, our analogue of a crystal, start by placing a point at some convenient, arbitrary location in the structure.
Then place points at every location in the structure with the same surroundings as the first point. This set of points, each with identical surroundings is a space lattice. In this example, the lattice is a two-dimensional plane. In a solid, the lattice would be three-dimensional. |
