The Unit Cell | |
A unit cell (in two dimensions) is defined as the parallelogram defined by any two non parallel vectors that connect points in a space lattice. These vectors describe the distance and direction between points in the lattice. The vectors also define the edges of the unit cells. A unit cell is located at every point in the lattice of a crystal. Click the links on the right to illustrate many of the concepts presented on this page. The links in the text above give definitions. |
