NiTi and candle

A sample of nickel-titanium wire is "trained" to remember a new shape by bending it at high temperature in a candle flame. When this now V-shaped piece of wire is wrapped around a finger, taped at one end to a surface, and heated with a hair dryer, it is restored to its V-shape.
