Contents of the CsCl Unit Cell

The cesium ion located at the center of this unit cell is completely within the cell. Chloride ions at the corners are each shared by a total of eight unit cells. Thus there would be one-eighth of a chloride at each corner in this cell.

The cesium ion at the center and the eight partial chloride atoms at eight corners gives a total of one Cs+ ion and one Cl- ion in the CsCl unit cell.
