A Face-Centered Cubic Model

This model of a face-centered cubic unit cell is constructed of Plexiglas plates with holes to hold spheres that represent atoms. Spheres are located at the corners of a cube and there is one sphere in the center of each face of the cube in a face-centered cubic model.

It is important to remember that the model is not exactly correct. The spheres (atoms) along the face diagonal of the unit cell touch in a metal with a face-centered cubic cell.
