Assessing for Change in Chemical Thinking (ACCT) is seeking three facilitators willing to offer high school chemistry teachers a 10 session Assessing for Change in Chemical Thinking Course in SY21-22. Course materials will be provided through ChemEd X. Upon completion of the course, stipends will be provided to facilitators and up to 10 participants. What do I need to do to participate?
Facilitator Requirements/Commitments
- Experience teaching High School Chemistry and facilitating professional development
- Access to a chemistry lab for one session (preferred)
- Recruit high school chemistry teachers to participate in program
- Plan and implement ACCT professional development program, using provided facilitation materials, 10 sessions of approx. 3 hours each between November 2021 and April 2022
- Complete and submit brief electronic logs of all session activities
- Video- and audio-record sessions, and upload session recordings using provided Swivl camera kit
- Potentially host project evaluation staff during some sessions either virtually or in-person, depending on how these are held
- Participate in a one-hour interview in spring 2022 with program evaluators
Participant Requirements/Commitments
- Teach at least one section of high school chemistry
- Attend 10 program sessions, approx. 3 hours each, between November 2021 and April 2022
- Complete some short assignments between sessions, including videotaping in own classes
- Complete occasional surveys as part of program evaluation
