Chemistry Time: Factors Affecting the Rate of a Chemical Reaction

In this Activity, students use effervescent antacid tablets such as Alka Seltzer, and baking soda and vinegar, to investigate factors that determine how fast chemical reactions occur. The Activity could be used to introduce a unit on chemical kinetics, but it is simple enough to be used in a discussion of chemical reactions or experimental methods/procedures during the first weeks of school.
