The Polymer Primer is an overview of polymer chemistry and engineering. It is one hundred pages in overall length, and introduces the student to both the chemical and engineering aspects of polymer science. It includes common polymerization approaches, polymer properties, terminology, and applications. For instructional applications, it contains a number of experiments based on the preparation, modification, and properties of poly(vinyl acetate). The Polymer Primer gives the baccalaureate graduate the terminology and introductory understanding needed for entry into polymer related research or industry.
