BCCE

Get a PLC ASAP

I spent the week learning about the field of chemistry education, being in awe of Notre Dame’s campus and most importantly, geeking out with some of the most amazing chemistry teachers you will ever meet.

ChemEd X Symposium

ChemEd X organized and hosted its inaugural symposium, Chemical Education Xchange: Engaging with Contributors, featuring invited speakers during BCCE 2018 at Notre Dame. The presentations of our Lead Contributors and Associate Editors were well-received. ChemEd X plans to host similar symposia at future conferences.

Confessions of a Part-Time Modeler

In the summer of 2016, there was a Modeling WorkshopTM for High School Chemistry just before BCCE in Colorado. I already had planned to go to BCCE, so I took the plunge. Two weeks of daily instruction and labs in student mode as well as teacher mode debriefing was exhausting and exhilarating at the same time. I left with a folder and flashdrive of curriculum resources provided by AMTA (the American Modeling Teachers Association.

BCCE 2018 and The New Year

If you have never attended a BCCE, I offer some reasons to change that this summer. The conference will be in Notre Dame this summer. Please vote for the topic that you would like me to develop my presentation about.

My First BCCE - Vibrant High School Programming

This summer I had the opportunity to attend my first Biennial Conference on Chemical Education (BCCE) in Greeley, Colorado. When I first expressed interest in this conference more than one fellow high school educator told me some version of, “Don’t bother with that. It’s a bunch of stuff for college professors, it won’t be of use to you.” Nothing could have been further from the truth. Yes, much of the programming is directed at a higher-education audience, but many of the workshops and symposia have something to offer for precollege educators and there is a very vibrant and continually growing strand of high-school specific programing.

ChemEd X Professional Learning Community

We are happy that you have chosen to attend our ChemEd X Professional Learning Community Workshop! Our hope is that you will leave with a better understanding of our mission for ChemEd X and you will be able to make better use of the site. If contributing content for publication is one of your goals, you will have a better understanding of that process.

2016 BCCE

I am sitting in Greeley Colorado. It is the first day of the 2016 BCCE. Time to get my learn on! I have spent the last week pouring over the schedule and deciding what I want to attend and a huge problem has developed. I am double booked almost every day!
